Learning to balance on your forearms or hands is one thing, overcoming your fear and limiting beliefs around the practice is another. On your journey to inversions often your biggest roadblocks to success are in your head. This unique mini series lays the physical foundation for strong, safe, and well aligned inversions, while also addressing the mental aspects of the practice that might be keeping you stuck.

Each class will include a combination of discussion, yoga practice, and workshop style tips & tricks to help you explore, and eventually master, your inversions! In addition, each week a complimentary principle of yoga philosophy will be introduced and woven through the practice to prepare and ready the mind of the practitioner. Harness the power of your mind & connect with the strength of your body through this unique mini series designed to evolve your practice, mentally & physically.

All levels welcome!

Classes will be hosted live on Zoom.

Saturday July 11th 10am - 12pm

Exploring Forearm Stand & Samskaras

Pinchamayurasana, also known as forearm stand, is a powerful and beautiful inversion that requires strength and mobility in the shoulders and plenty of core awareness. Our practice will focus on preparing the shoulders and core to stabilize and balance the body on the forearms.

Samskaras are habitually repeated patterns that eventually become deeply ingrained, almost conditioned responses. Samskaras show up in our thoughts; in the internal dialogues and narratives that we replay. They show up in our bodies, and the ways that we have trained ourselves, often unconsciously, how to move. What we repeat, we reinforce. Together we will rewire our thinking and movement patterns; consciously strengthening our mind / body connection to carry us confidently in life and in practice.

Saturday July 18th 10am - 12m

Exploring Handstand & Aparigraha

Handstand, oh the elusive handstand! So fun and so frustrating! Together we will break down the basics of the handstand and play with different variations against a wall and in the middle of the room. Expect lots of playtime and to enjoy the process just as much as the fruits of your labour.

Attachment to a specific outcome or desired result is a trap that we all fall into from time to time. When we get so caught up in searching for the destination we often forget about the joy that the journey itself brings. We will explore the concept of Aparigraha, or non-attachment as we play & practice, fail & learn, succeed & progress. Remembering that the practice IS the purpose.
